About the Artist

Christina Hummer was born and raised in St. Louis, MO and has been a resident of O'Fallon for over 7 years. A graduate of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO, Christina earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism with a minor in Art.

Christina has been painting for nearly 14 years. She began her studies at NWMSU as an Art major, working towards a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree. She received the first annual Art Scholarship her freshmen year and continued to perform successfully in photography, painting and graphic design.

After a couple of years as an art student, Christina chose to take her passion for photography and apply it to journalism. While a J student, she created illustrations for the campus newspaper, and was the associate photographer for all publications, including Heartland View magazine, NWMSU's yearbook and newspaper.

Her first mural job was in 2000, where she created a castle in the clouds for a friend's nursery room. Since she had never painted on such a large scale and on anything but a canvas before, she was wary of the outcome. However, never afraid of a challenge, Christina dove in headfirst to the project and absolutely LOVED it. She continued to paint murals for herself and friends until 2009, when she officially started her business, Sweet Dream Murals.

Christina was previously employed part-time at Lutheran Hour Ministries in St. Louis, MO as a Web Developer for 10 years. She has been married for over 8 years and has three beautiful little boys. She is continuously inspired by her children's artwork and their freedom from form and color.
